Our client is a regional law firm headquartered in Singapore and provides a full range of legal and professional services and advice across Asia. The firm provides end-to-end services across multi-jurisdictional legal processes including litigation, intellectual property, and cross-border transactions.

The Role

The firm is seeking an experienced associate to join their growing corporate law practice. The successful candidate will have a background in corporate law and a desire to work with a team of dynamic, passionate and collaborative lawyers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the business in general legal, corporate, contract, and commercial matters

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts related to mergers and acquisitions

  • Conduct legal research and provide legal opinions to clients

  • Be the main point of contact for external stakeholders including external counsels

  • Advise clients on various legal issues related to corporate law, including M&A, securities law, and corporate governance

  • Seek exposure to general finance-related matters including corporate finance, funds, etc.

  • Assist senior lawyers with due diligence and other corporate transactions and assist in the preparation of due diligence reports

  • Provide input on group policies and procedures

  • Advise on contract status, legal risk, and legal liabilities

  • Provide relevant training to internal stakeholders as required

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ PQE, Singapore qualified lawyer

  • Have expertise in areas such as:

    • M&A and corporate transactions

    • General corporate and commercial advisory

    • Private equity and joint ventures

    • Employment law

    • Cross-border transactions

  • Strong drafting, negotiating, and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Possess initiative, drive and commercial acumen, and can work well both independently and in a team

  • Meticulous and well organised

  • Able to thrive in a fast paced and challenging professional services work atmosphere

  • Conversant with evolving workplace technology
