The Role
The Company is seeking an experienced General Manager to be a part of its pioneering team in Singapore. In this role, you will be responsible for strategising and managing the Sales & Marketing function to drive higher revenue and profitability as well as handling the Operations function to ensure high operational efficiency as a profit center. Key Responsibilities
Strategic
Drive and lead the organisation by establishing processes to provide clear direction, guidance, and support to the Sales & Operations function
Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies, including setting and achieving sales targets, developing new products to market, enhancing existing products, and strengthening overseas partners’ base
Devise sales and product centric strategies, plan and implement country revenue targets, develop and manage key accounts, provide direction for product development, resolve departmental queries and issues, and build and develop a high-performing sales team
Create marketing plans to drive business growth and establish a strong company brand / identity
Identify strategically important business locations and conduct feasibility studies for setting up branches / representative offices
Submit feasibility reports for new SBUs with SWOT analysis
Build up a corporate client base through strategic approaches
Set business objectives for country / location in alignment with corporate objectives
Managerial
Improve sales processes through regular analysis and action planning to meet business needs and address positive and negative implications
Maintain business relationships with existing customers to explore possibilities of scaling up the business, monitor and control cost of operations
Monitor sales activities, analyse the cause of deviations and non-compliance, and implement necessary corrective actions
Ensure effective execution of responsibilities by aligning operations with headquarters' guidelines and organisational requirements
Recruit good talents in the industry and retain existing talents in the company
Operational
Monitor and assess sales performance and the overall progress of sales function in terms of people, facts and figures, branches, processes and procedures on a regular basis
Manage day-to-day general administration tasks
Achieve sales targets and oversee the overall P&L of the SBU
Conduct frequent P&L review with the Directors to identify any deviations
Ensure smooth operations for air and sea freight forwarding in accordance to plans
Maintain business rapport with customers and focus on meeting their requirements
Monitor and control the cash flow resulting from the services provided by the branch and explore possibilities of cutting costs to optimise profits
Collaborate with in-house Finance Department to assess customers’ creditworthiness
Interact with customs and different certifying agencies for consignment clearance
Monitor and control operational costs to maintain profit margins
Ensure retention of team members of the SBU by providing a conducive working environment for all to perform their tasks
Implement SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for all operational areas
Key Requirements
A relevant diploma or degree qualification
10 to 15 years of experience in General Management and Commercial Management in the freight forwarding or logistics industry
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in leading and growing an organisation, with the ability to optimise team performance and development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Focusing of employee needs and routine engagement with the team members
Building up a good professional network with industry people
Frequent interaction with managers, employees, customers, functional heads, overseas agents and vendors for ensuring a hassle-free service / operation
Provide the necessary guidance and support to Sales & Operations teams as required
