Gamification in the workplace is big business. And it can go a long way in nurturing an Agile workforce.

 

Who doesn’t like games? We all like to have some fun, engage in a bit of friendly competition and maybe earn some reward points while at it!

Well, in the business world, gamification isn’t just about fun anymore. 

It’s being taken very seriously by more and more organisations which are realising that gamification is a great tool to add in their HR toolkit – to boost employee engagement at scale, generate data for great insights and create new employee experiences.

Especially now, during the pandemic, when people really need something to lighten their work lives.

How does it work? Imagine in one instance - a potential candidate going through the recruitment process by having to “clear” levels in a tower which involves playing games to assess problem-solving abilities, or speed and awareness!

A 2020 survey by market research firm Prescient and Strategic Intelligence predicts that the HR sector - when compared to other sectors like education, government, retail and others - will register the highest gamification growth rate between now and 2030.

This is because of the increasing adoption of gaming solutions in recruitment, training and development and employee motivation.

Gamification in the HR sector is projected to grow 27.8% between now and 2030. Overall, the entire gamification market is projected to hit a revenue of US$76,298.9 million by 2030.

As proponents of Agile, we know that fun and games can nurture an agile workforce, from attracting tech-savvy Millennial talents at the recruitment stage to bringing out soft skills (like problem-solving skills) which are essential in such a workforce.
