The semiconductor industry is undergoing rapid transformation. Staying ahead of the curve is crucial for organisations striving to remain competitive.
To help navigate this evolving landscape, industry association SEMI Taiwan recently hosted a webinar titled ‘Workforce Development in the Semiconductor Industry’ to discuss key strategies for building a future-ready workforce.
The webinar, which started with opening remarks by Su Chen-Ping, Vice President of SEMI Taiwan, addressed industry challenges and offered valuable insights on attracting, retaining, and developing top talent.
Shari Liss, Executive Director of the SEMI Foundation & Workforce Development Programs, shared vital insights into the global talent shortage and the challenges facing this sector, with an estimated demand for 1.5 million new workers by 2030.

The findings indicate that DEI matters to employees, with workers being 10.2 times more likely to remain in a non-discriminatory company.
Building Future Tech Talent and Organisational Resilience
Evelyn Chow, Founder and Advisor of DecodeHR, shared strategies for developing future tech talent and strengthening organisational resilience.
Her session explored the crucial role of strategic workforce planning and how companies must plan to anticipate and address critical skills gaps. In the semiconductor sector, where talent shortages, skill gaps and evolving demands are ongoing challenges, workforce planning must be proactive, skill-based, and focused on execution.
Evelyn emphasised the need for both upskilling and reskilling, while fostering a culture of lifelong learning.
She also highlighted the importance of building a strong employer brand, developing a positive workplace culture, and implementing a total rewards strategy to attract and retain top talent.
