Workplace fairness law tabled in Parliament

Singapore demonstrated its commitment to workplace equity, with the tabling of the Workplace Fairness Legislation in Parliament last week.
The legislation will be introduced through two Bills, with the second one to be tabled next year. This move aims to address workplace discrimination and promote inclusivity.
Experts applauded this initiative in a recent news article by the South China Morning Post, although some argue that there are still gaps in the proposed law.
Iris Lew, DecodeHR's senior engagement manager, stressed that true change requires more than legal compliance. Businesses must embed fairness into their workplace culture, so as to foster a truly inclusive and supportive environment.
She noted that workplace fairness has been gaining momentum in the region and believes that more countries will follow suit.
